The Traditions of the Hermetic Order of the Nascent Dawn

As modern civilization progresses forward we must ensure that our esoteric traditions are firmly rooted in their source - that the wisdom of Thoth-Hermes-Mercury is renewed once again. Because our Order is a combination of two Hermetic currents, the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn and the Egyptian Rite of Misraim we may ensure excellence in its continuation.

The Rite of Misraim, founded in 1788 stands for high-grade Egyptian Masonry, disclosing Hermetic and Greek Philosophy, symbolic Alchemy and the mysterious architecture behind the Great Pyramids. According to traditional Masonic history, the Order of Misraim dates back to the time of the first patriarchs in the Bible. In particular to the time of Cham - a son of Noah and Initiate of the School of the 'Chaldean Magicians.' His second son was named Misraim who in the Bible was the eponymous ancestor of the Egyptians. Misraim is mentioned in the German Rosicrucian Rite (Ordo Rosae Aureae) where it is said that 'he, Misraim had bought into Egypt a part of the sacred tradition.' The Gold R+C Masonic Order at Berlin established the first Rosicrucian rituals. The Nascent Dawn of 1807 was Gold R+C.

The later continuation of this rite, the Rosae Rubae et Aureae Crucis utilized the same grade structure of the German Gold R+C in the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. The practices of the Golden Dawn were founded upon Hermetic and Kabalistic philosophy, through the outward forms of their rituals, of ceremonial magic. The Golden Dawn has since become the most influential occult Order in the world. According to Golden Dawn history, William Wynn Westcott constituted the Order under the authority of Unknown German Adepts.

The Hermetic Order of the Nascent Dawn revitalizes the Hermetic Traditions. It reforms the Egyptian Rite of Misraim and the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn into a new powerful hybrid school of magic and of Egyptian religious celebrations. The new system is only a 'new combination,' the rites and influences are distinctly traditional, capturing and combining the best elements of both currents into what has become a more efficient form of initiation. Our rank of Adeptus Minor is obtained in only Three Degrees. (Thus we make no claims to lineage in any traditions. Our only aspiration is in the Great Work, glory be to our Creator in the highest, and to provide and effective initiation system in the Hermetic current.)

The esoteric powers of the Golden Dawn, Egyptian Godforms, have reawakened the powers of Masonic initiation. The Hermetic Order of the Nascent Dawn draws upon the initiatory forces behind the Golden Dawns' 0=0, Portal and 5=6 Ceremonies (Middle Pillar Rituals.) These forces, these Godforms and Guardians of the Mystery Tradition have been incorporated into the Three Degrees of the Egyptian Misraim Rituals so that the Egyptian Powers come to life in the Three Degrees. The Egyptian Misraim Rite further served to conduct the fundamental teachings of morale and virtue into the Golden Dawn tradition that were missing. Furthermore it revitalized the Golden Dawn rites by invoking the Gods of Egypt to the surface of its rituals!

The Gods of Egypt remained previously hidden in Golden Dawn Ceremonies. They were only present as invisible forces behind the ritual motions. Unlike the Rite of Misraim little did the candidate know that his/her Neophyte Initiation Ceremony was also conducted in the Egyptian Hall of Maat (Truth) in the presence of Osiris. Mathers stated that he received the Golden Dawn rituals from the "most pure Rosicrucian sources, even though these Mysteries are found somewhat modified in their exterior form, for reason of tribe and culture." They were modified for Victorian sensibilities. The H.O.N.D concludes that the time has come to modify once again the exterior form of these rites - our world has progressed profoundly since 1888. We live in the Pagan era once again. The Gods return anew, as more students come to the profound awareness of the God within.

Let the Mysteries of Egypt therefore be proclaimed again. So that the magicians of the Hermetic Order of the Nascent Dawn may relive the mysteries of Isis and Osiris on the Sphere of this Planet.
