About the Hermetic Order of the Nascent Dawn

The original Nascent Dawn was founded in 1807. Traditional history says it was the forerunner to the present Golden Dawn system. The Hermetic Order of the Nascent Dawn is a reactivation of that current. Our system is an amalgamation of various branches of study and a variety of currents which emerged from antiquity. It brings two principle occult bodies together, the Golden Dawn and the Rite of Misraim under one banner.

Since its inception in 1788 the Egyptian Order of Misraim has split into many traditions. It has stamped its influence upon the later Memphis and Misraim, Martinist Order, Golden Dawn, Ordo Templi Orientis, and the Ancient Mystical Order Rosae Crucis. Misraim is considered the Mother Lodge of all present esoteric traditions.

The longest standing Egyptian Tradition in the history of Western occultism is the Rite of Misraim, as also expounded by the Grand Copt Cagliostro. While this Temple actually emerged from Regular Masonry, it was the first to truly re-adopt the mysteries of Egypt in the West strengthening Hermeticism in its ceremonies. Our current Order, the Hermetic Order of the Nascent Dawn is Officially Chartered by Frater Maui, Grand Copt of Isis Temple. Frater Maui was trained in the traditions of Whare Ra under Pat Zalewski. In Golden Dawn history Whare Ra was the longest standing Temple to continue the original teachings of the original Golden Dawn Temple founded in 1888.

The knowledge of Whare Ra passed onto Thoth-Hermes initiate Frater Maui is now delivered to the Hermetic Order of the Nascent Dawn and its members. Therefore, our Order teaches the methods and traditions of the Golden Dawn in the Egyptian Rite of Misraim. Both traditions performed their Initiation Ceremonies in the Underworld Hall of Maat, from the Egyptian Book of the Dead. The harmony established between these two rites forms an Initiatory School in which the religious worship of Solar Egypt, the Mysteries of Isis and Osiris can be resurrected in the magical traditions of the Golden Dawn.
