Australia Scuba Diving - Liveaboard & Overnight Dive Trips

Liveaboards are intended for those who wish to spend more than one day on the Great Barrier Reef. These trips involve travellers actually "living onboard" the vessels, which provide meals and beds. Although seemingly more expensive, liveaboard trips actually work out to be cheaper than multiple day trips. A day trip can only offer at most 3 dives, while a liveaboard can give you up to 5 in one day. Most trips follow the same basic itinerary, having dives before and after meals, finishing with a night dive. 

Enjoyment is not the only benefit you will get from 'living aboard.' Divers will see a substantial increase in their skill level. For the inexperienced certified diver, even a 2 day trip (the shortest liveaboard available), will increase your confidence in the water, and will see that assembling your dive gear becomes almost second nature.

The increased amount of time being able to be spent on the reef allows for travel to locations unreachable to some day trip vessels. Some operators travel to the premier Northern Reefs such as the world-famous Cod Hole, and Osprey Reef, where 15 metres visibility is classed as a 'bad day.'
