Cairns Dive Centre is one of the largest certifying agencies in the world, operating in Cairns for many years and maintaining outstanding customer service. Cairns Dive Centre offers day cruises and live aboard trips for the snorkeller and diver, as well as learn-to-dive courses through all levels from Open Water to Instructors. CDC conducts SSI courses.
Course Prerequisites Duration Commences
Learn to Dive Course (Open Water) 12 yrs of age & Dive Medical 4,5,6 Days Daily
Advanced Open Water Course 12 yrs of age & Open Water or equivalent 3 Day Liveaboard Daily
Stress and Rescue Course 12 yrs of age & Advanced or equivalent 5 Days (3 Day Liveaboard) Every 2nd Monday
Divemaster Course 18 yrs of age, 20 dives, and 60 logged dives to be certified 4 weeks full-time Fridays

Learn to Dive Course
With Cairns Dive Centre, you can choose from a 4 Day Course, 5 Day Course or a 6 Day Course which includes your Advanced Open Water Course. On a 4 Day Course you can choose to have a 2 Day Liveaboard or 2 separate Day Trips.

The first two days are spent learning the theory and underwater skills of diving. During the next few days, it's out to the Reef to complete the Open Water Course and perhaps start your Advanced Course

Extras:

  • Additional nights on liveaboard vessel - $130
  • Dive Medical - $48
  • Reef Tax and Fuel Levy - $15
  • 2 passport photos if you don't have your own - $7
  • Textbook refundable deposit - $50
  • Dive medical in accordance with Australian Standard, A.S 4005-1 (2000). This will be arranged by us day 1 of the course. A fee of A$48 is payable directly to the doctor.

Some medical conditions may prevent you from diving. For example: heart disease, asthma, epilepsy or diabetes. If you are unsure of a particular medical condition, please check with us prior to reservation. Australian medical standards are different to those overseas. A medical obtained in another country will most likely NOT be valid in Australia.

Requirements:

  • Ability to swim (The swimming test can be arranged the day before your course. If you don't pass, you'd have saved the money you would have spent on the Dive Medical.

Please Note: In the interests of safety we recommend that you should not fly or go to any altitude over 300m within 24 hours after your last dive.
