Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises is owned and managed by
experienced cruise operators, the Wallace family. Since 1979 the
Wallace’s have been perfecting the art of day touring on the Great
Barrier Reef when they launched the renowned Quicksilver cruises from Port
Douglas. In 1990 the Wallace family purchased Big Cat Green Island Reef
Cruises and for more than a decade have applied their winning formula of
friendly and helpful service. In 2001 and 2004 the company was recognised
in the Tropical North Queensland Tourism Awards as Best Major Tour and
Transport Operator.
The vessel Reef Rocket is a state of the art 24 metre
vessel with a capacity for 120 passengers and operates two half day
cruises from Cairns as well as a daily service directly from Palm Cove
Jetty to Green Island. "Big Cat" is a modern 30 metre vessel
with a capacity for 300 passengers and operates the full day cruise daily
from Cairns.
Green Island
Tropical and enchanting Green Island is an idyllic coral cay where you
can relax on the beautiful white sandy beach or explore the walking tracks
that lead you to through the emerald island rainforest of the National
Park. A coral cay is a build up of rubble and sediments from thousands of
years of wave action surrounding the reefs. Seeds and spores carried by
the wind and birds have fertilised the island and enabled the growth of
plant life. Whether you want to stay for a whole day or spend only a few
hours on Green Island, Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises has a Reef and
Island cruise to suit you. With a range of packages where you can choose
to include the many activities on offer or you can take it easy and simply
relax on the sandy beaches.
- Beach Hire
Enjoy all the fun of Green Island's beach and water activities
with the hire of canoes, sailboards, shade umbrellas, beach chairs and
beach volleyball gear
- Marineland Melanesia
This fascinating walk-through nautical museum features live
crocodiles and aquariums. A recent addition is an excellent gallery
collection of rare Melanesian artefacts and historical displays.
- Yellow Semi-Submarine
A semi-submersible vessel is a vessel that is half submerged in
the water. This enables passengers to get a divers view of the Great
Barrier Reef without getting wet.
- Scuba Diving
Scuba trips to the edge of Green Island Reef are available to both
Certified and Introductory Divers.
- Oceanwalker Helmet Diving
This device enables you to get underwater without getting your
hair wet! It's suitable for both swimmers and non-swimmers.
